He loves me not by Vrushali Telang

ImageHe loves me not by Vrushali Telang is her second book and is the story of the children of two Parsi friends, Dinshaw Cooper and Porus Narswanji, who live in the Narielwala mansion flats in Mumbai. Most of the residents of this society are Parsis. They have been friends for 64 years and play badminton as a routine after their retirement. They are upset about their kids. Dinshaw’s son, Jimmy lives off him and Porus’s daughter Mehroo sits in her room all day and refuses to meet people.

Dinshaw Cooper lives his mother and 25 year old son, Jimmy. His wife, Hanovi, had eloped with his boss and he hates his son because he looks like his wife. Jimmy has long hair and spends all his time looking after his locks.

His friend, Porus, lost his wife to an illness, when hi only daughter Mehroo was 12. She is now 24, makes stain glass paintings, reads fashion magazine, Pizzazz and self help books.

Mehroo and Jimmy are childhood friends and she loves him. They are bed buddies and he takes money from her. She is aware that he takes her for granted. He finds out a way to earn money and she finds a self-help guru.

A fast paced book. Some parts of the book, especially the language, reminded me of the 1979 romantic comedy, Baton Baton Mein.
