Wilde Riders by Savannah Young

20707166I received the book, Wilde Riders by Savannah Young, as one of the 23 books for winning the Tornado Giveaway. I would like to thank the author as well as the Book Club for organising the Giveaway as well as sending the book.

The story:

Old Town New Jersey, Haymakers, a bar, is owned by the Wildes and is now run by the eldest Wilde brother, Jake. The four brothers had a band together, Wilde Riders.

Now, the second Wilde, Cooper, 26, an Ivy League graduate, has moved to Manhattan, has a job on the Wall Street, drives a BMW 6 Series convertible and is on the way to make his first million before he turns thirty. He is not a country kid anymore and there is no way that he is going to be a Wilde Rider again. He has always been known as Jake’s younger brother. He is a numbers person, not sensitive to anyone’s feelings.

Riley Smith works for H & C Bank in Manhattan and hates men who are Wall Street wannabes. Her life is in Manhattan, rural New Jersey is not a part of her five year plan, nor is a boyfriend. Patti is her best and only friend.

Haymakers has run into financial troubles and Cooper has taken leave from his office to help his brother save the family business. Riley is sent by her bank to investigate the business loan give to them. She meets Cooper, who is distant and Jake, who is a ladies man. As she is leaving the bar, her car hits a truck being driven by none other than the third Cooper brother, Tucker. Cooper is instantly attracted to Riley and wants to protect her from his brothers. He does not want to know anything about him because he feels that she may get up and go.

There is Harley, his neighbor, who has had a crush on him since she was twelve, jealous of Riley and he is afraid, she might spill the beans and if she does, what will Riley do? And more importantly, what will happen to Cooper’s efforts of portraying a country boy image?

My take:

The story has been written from the point of view of both the characters, the name of the chapters being the character from whose point of view, the story is being told. The story is fast paced, and the characters relatable. The initial part of the story I more than three-fourths of the book long, set in Old Town over a span of three days and the latter half is set in New York.

Loved the book.

The Zaken Takeover by Dilsher Singh and Reet Singh

The Zaken TakeoverThe Zaken takeover by Dilsher Singh and Reet Singh is an ebook for kids. This is Reet’s first full length novel for children and I would like to thank Reet for the book.

The characters:

Thomas Chiller, Tom, 18, is bored of his routine life. He has just passed his Class twelve exams along with his friends Greg and Brian. For him, nothing is better than the last day of school.

Commander Axarl, an alien from Zakerl, has been appointed by the General, to invade Earth, kidnap one vulnerable person, ‘the specimen’ and bring him home to see how far the brain is developed. He is even given a special shuttle for the special mission.

Genorts are the lifelong enemies of the Zakens and would do anything to spoil their mission, even sabotage.

The story:

On a col may morning, there is an announcement on the school PA System that a farewell party has been organized for the passouts. After attending the party with Brian and Greg, Tom is in no hurry to go home because his parents are out for the weekend on a business trip, Tom goes and sits on a bench in a garden and sees a firefly. He suddenly realizes that it not a firefly but an alien and gets excited not realizing that the alien is there to kidnap him and take him to his boss and they would be studying his brain.

Thus starts the game of cat and mouse between Axarl and Tom. Would Axarl capture Tom and take him to Zakerl or would Tom outwit him? Who would win?

My take:

Whenever my ten year old tells me to read a book of hers, I look for an excuse to avoid it. But when I started with this book, I could not keep it down and was looking for excuses to read the book and finish it soon. The suspense was getting on to me.

I really loved the book. It is indeed unputdownable.

Highly recommended.

Guest Post Lan LLP

Beginning with ForeverI am glad to have with me Lan LLP,author of  Beginning with Forever as my guest today. My question to you is

“H0w do you create the characters for your book?

Answer: First, I laid out the plot of my book and then thought of my characters. I made a list of attributes that I found appealing for the hero and heroine as well as the villain(s). After that I chose names that we’re fitting for their personalities. Certain names can really draw out emotions…like Bianca;)

~Meet The Author~

Over a long year ago, I picked up a pen to jot down the first sentence of my vivid imagination. Those initial words were the seeds that grew into my flowering romance book, “Beginning with Forever.” With all my heart, I wrote, rewrote, edited, re-edited and now, I’m finally ready to share it with all of you. My one and only aspiration for this book is to have readers embrace my story and characters with their heart. If I can make someone laugh till their gut hurts, hate the villain with vengeance, cry till their eyes dry out, fall in love all over again, and drool over the hero or feel any other emotions, than I’ve succeeded my goal.
I’m the sappiest person in the world when it comes to romance. Don’t smirk! I believe in love at first sight, Prince Charming or in my book,Mr. Hot Billionaire, and happy endings. In my heart, every women deserves all three, and they will when they lose themselves in my books. Your fantasy can become a reality with just the flip of a page, so come join me.

Regardless of what obstacles are thrown in their path, Lillian and Carson will endure them all to hold onto their forever from the beginning to the end.

~Excerpt~

“Carson, I’m freely offering myself to you rightnow. Please.” I pleadfearlessly. I’m shameless and not above begging for him to take my body. Who is this sex-craved woman anyways?

“Sweetness, you’re making it very difficult for me to resist you, tocontrol myself.” He lowers himself intimately close to graze his soft, moist lips on my forehead, bridge of my nose and then intensely over my lips. The urgency of his need for me is translated through his kisses. Biting down firmly on his lower lip, it appears that he’s forcing the strength of his will to remain tame. Our eye contact is broken when he seals his shut to blind the temptation lying beneath his body. His hands grip the sheets desperately, clawing and then fisting. I think this is his last hope of hanging onto his dignity. “Goodnight Lily, only offer your body to me when you believe it in your heart,” he murmurs and rolls off me.

Under Delhi by Sohrab Pant

Under-Delhi-front-coverI received Under Delhi by Sorabh Pant as review copy from Hachette India. Thank you Shobhita for the book.

It is the story of Tanya Bisht, set in Delhi. Tanya lives a dual life – that of a sales executive at Loda Builders during the day and at night, she works for the cause of the girls, punishing men who have let off wrongly by the law. Not that she is a feminist, but her God is a She. The story keeps moving from her office job to her Robinhood episodes.

This is perhaps the shortest review I have written, but I shall not go into the details of the book because I do not want to spoil the fun, but I can assure you, you would be laughing away at the humour in the book.

Interview with Adite Banerjie

3c001-adite2bbanerjie2bclose2bup2biAdite Banerjie discovered Mills & Boon romances and their amazing assortment of drool-worthy TDH heroes in her teens. Around the same time she fell in love with song-and-dance Bollywood romances. Growing up in a home with a filmmaker dad who worked in the world’s largest film industry (yes, Bollywood!) and a voracious reader for a mom, it was inevitable that she would come to love both films and books. During her exciting and fulfilling career as a business journalist, she found the time to indulge her passion for both Bollywood romances and M&Bs. But after years of reporting and writing about the real world, she chose to return to her love for fiction and turned screenwriter. She turned Harlequin author after winning the 2012 Passions Aspiring Authors Contest. Her debut novel was released in September 2013. Her second novel  “Trouble Has a New Name” was released by Harlequin in July 2014. Thank you, Adite for sparing the time for this interview and congratulations on the International launch of your debut novel.

At the outset, please tell the readers something about yourself?

I was a business journalist for many years. Then I got into content writing; worked on projects for research agencies and social development organisations before getting into fiction writing. I also write screenplays for documentaries and feature films.

From a business journalist to an author, how did this transformation come about?

My father was in the film industry and I have always been interested in writing screenplays. However, writing Mills & Boons had not crossed my mind until I saw an ad for the Aspiring Authors Contest. My journey as an author started when I won the contest.

And now a screenwriter, are you working on something now?

I have many ideas for scripts and plenty of half-written ones in my computer. Right now, as I have a contract with Harlequin to write two more books, I’m focusing on those. But you never know when opportunity knocks, and should there be a chance to write a screenplay, I’ll definitely grab it!

What is more difficult, writing romances or scripts?

They are different types of writing and both have their own sets of challenges.

How do you draw inspiration to write?

I draw inspiration from everyday stories in the papers, magazines, the internet. Sometimes some image may trigger off a thought and I go down the ‘what if?’ track.

The covers of both the editions of your book are very nice, did you have a say in designing them?

The covers are designed by the Harlequin team’s talented designers and I have been fortunate to get such beautiful covers for both editions of my first book and my new book, Trouble Has a New Name.

How does it feel to be an international writer?

It’s quite surreal and I still haven’t quite got used to the fact that my book is now available internationally.

You are a voracious reader, did this is some way help in writing books?

Earlier, I used to read only to enjoy the story. But ever since I have turned an author myself, I have become very conscious about how different authors structure their stories, how they use point-of-view and other finer points. I do think reading different genres has helped me in my writing.

What kind of books do you read? Who is your favourite author?

I read across all genres. I enjoy romances as well as thrillers, historical novels and non-fiction. My favourite author is Amitava Ghosh.

Has any author influenced your writing?

Amitava Ghosh’s writing is always an inspiration. I also admire many romance authors including Sarah Morgan, Kate Hewitt, Nicola Marsh, Sophie Kinsella and many others.

Trouble has a new name has just been released and has been a stupendous success. How do you feel?

I don’t know about ‘stupendous success’ but I am ovewhelmed at the stupendous response the book has got from readers and reviewers. It’s  a fantastic feeling and I’m loving every moment of it.

What are the new projects in the pipeline?

Am writing a romantic-thriller for Harlequin India which is tentatively titled “No Safe Zone”. Hopefully, it should be out sometime mid- next year. Fingers crossed! 🙂

Any words of wisdom for aspiring authors?

Believe in yourself and keep working on your craft.

Thank you once again for sharing your thoughts with your readers.

Thanks for hosting me on your blog, Arti.

The Truth About De Campo by Jennifer Hayward

The Truth0514-9780373137237-bigw About De Campo by Jennifer Hayward was one of the 23 books that I received as a prize for the Tornado Giveaway. I would like to thank the author for providing with an ebook and Rubina Ramesh of the Book Club for organizing the giveaway. It is the story of the youngest De Campo brother, Matteo and the older daughter of Warren Davis, world’s third richest man, Quinn Davis.

The story:

Quinn Davis, 27, has been put her incharge of the restaurant operations of the Luxe Hotel chain which has just been bought by Warren Davis. She will be the final decision maker for the wine contract for which De Campo is one of the short-listed companies. Divorced from Julian Edwards, a blue blooded lawyer from Boston, she has the reputation of being a manhater. Her younger sister, Thea, is her best friend.

Matteo De Campo, 32, is the son of Antonio De Campo, builder of the De Campo global wine empire. He is the vice president of sales and marketing for De Campo. His eldest brother, Riccardo wants Matteo to impress Quinn, bag the contract, but not sleep with her, given Matteo’s playboy image. Having lost his best friend, Giancarlo in an accident, he feels guilty and remorseful.

She is a female warrior in the male dominated world and considers De Campo to be an arrogant self-satisfied brand but he feels it is a proud brand.

One day, Matteo gets a call from Quinn telling him that De Campo is one of the two short listed companies and visits their vineyards as a part of finalization of the deal. This is followed by Matteo and the other finalist visiting the Luxe hotels in St Lucia.

Who would win the contract? Where would the chemistry between Matteo and Quinn lead them? Read on to find out.

My take:

The story is sweet, and I really loved the way the author has described the feelings of both the characters. Both of them are not supposed to get involved with one another, but try to enter the other’s territory by using the other person’s emotionally weak moment and get the secrets out. The way Quinn deals with her life is amazing and reflects her strong personality.

Once I came to know that this is the third book of the De Campo Trilogy, I am waiting for a chance to know the elder De Campo brothers.

My take:

A very cute story and an easy read. I loved the book and the revelation at the end.

Review: Trouble has a new name by Adite Banerjie

adite2Adite Banerjie’s new book, Trouble has a New Name, is the story of Rayna Dutt and Neel Arora set in Andaman Islands.

Rayna Dutt, a model, is on the way to Andaman Islands from Mumbai on a chartered flight, to attend her best friend, Milee’s wedding. Rayna being Rayna, reaches the aircraft wearing a pair of flip-flops, almost misses the flight and drenches a co-passenger in orange juice. To top it all, a mix-up with room allocation forces her to share a luxury villa with the same co-passenger, who is none other than Neel Arora, the groom’s business partner and dear friend and also the co-promoter of the resort. He is also the best man at wedding and she, the Maid of honour.

She suddenly sees Sid Verma, her ex-boyfriend, who had dumped her five days ago by sending her an SMS, at the same resort. She asks Neel if he would pretend to be her fiancé for the next few days.

Neel is a workaholic and cares about two women in his life, his mother and his younger sister Meera. He stays away from relationships. He agrees and one day, says goodbye and disappears.

Read on……

My Take:

A lovely story with lovable characters. The friendship between Rayna and Milee is so open and I loved their OOOs (you will have to read the book to find more). I liked Rayna’s book of Immutable Laws. Rayna’s dialogues especially when she puts her foot in her mouth, which she does all the time, are so natural. Neel is the typical Tall, Dark and Handsome and his feelings have been described making him more human than the western heroes.

I loved the book and the cover is awesome.
