Shiva by Subhadra Sengupta

Shiva-SDL645723489-1-77c39.jpgI received the book Shiva by Subhadra Sengupta Illustrated by Tapas Guha as a review copy from the publisher Rupa Publications:

The Blurb:

Shiva really is an amazing god. He can become a glowing pillar of pure light and he can also turn himself into a terrible demon. He is beautiful and ugly, kind and terrible, all at the same time!

In this book, read three stories from Shiva’s adventure-filled life. Find out the tale behind the origin of the river Ganga, and what role Shiva had to play in it; how the shivalingam avatar of Shiva came about; and how Shiva destroyed three demons with one arrow. Beautifully retold by Subhadra Sen Gupta and accompanied with Tapas Guha’s magnificent illustrations, this book will be loved by every child.

My take:

The blurb says it all. The book has three short stories of Lord Shiva written an easily understandable language using simple words for children to read. The illustrations are beautiful.

It is one book which would make an ideal gift for children. The book can be read as a read aloud book also.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of the book from the publisher in return for my honest review. I have NOT received any monetary compensation for the same.
