Love Apptually by Pooja Nair

Love-Apptually-SDL581189806-1-106ae.jpgI received the book Love Aptually by Pooja Nair as a review copy from the author and the publisher and would like to thank them for the same.

The Blurb:

Can real love ever blossom amidst a plethora of virtual chat apps and widgets? Can the mechanical swipes and eager clicks on the phone ever substitute the pleasures of a real-life chance encounter? For Aayushi, it all begins with an idle flickering message on her app’s inbox, from a guy named Ayaan. This leads to an affair where the two discover a deep attraction for each other. However, Aayushi ends the relationship rather abruptly.

Three years later, Aayushi unexpectedly bumps into Ayaan in her Singapore office. His changed behaviour perplexes her and she tries to find out if Ayaan had ever loved her the way she imagined love to be. She ends up uncovering revelations galore, and is finally led to a simple truth.

Will this change her romantic notions forever or reaffirm her faith in love?

The story:

Aayushi Menon was thirty years old, in a relationship, when she accidentally received a message from ‘wandering soul’ on a chatting app. And that was Ayaan Jaiswal. When they met, he professed his love to her and she also told him that she loved him, and then felt guilty and went away abruptly.

Now, three years later, she is making a presentation when she sees him sitting with the boss and he is introduced as a team member. He seems more composed than her ad she is fidgety. They are sent over to Paris for some business deal and they discuss the past. But, once they are back, things go from bad to worse.

Will they come back together?? Read on to find out.

My take:

The story and the language are simple. The author has created relatable characters, like people we meet in everyday life. She has written the story in first person from the point of view of Aayushi. The author seems to be a film buff herself as she has made reference to seventeen movies in the book. the chapters hev interesting names and the illustrations are a reflection of what comes in the chapter.

A light read. Can be completed in three hours flat.
