Twelve Hours of Temptation by Shoma Narayanan is the story of Melissa and Samir set in Mumbai and Goa.
Melissa D’Cruz, 24, works as a copywriter in Mendonca Advetising, an advertising agency, which now is being sold to Maximus Aveising because the owner, Brian, wants to retire and settle down in Goa.
Samir Razdan, 30, is the Corporate Strategy Head of Maximus Advertising and does not get influenced by other people’s opinions.
She is good at noticing things and he is just the opposite. Both of them have one thing in common- a bad past relationship experience.
After the takeover, Melissa needs to go to Goa to attend her first major awards ceremony but she has flight-phobia and does not get a seat on the train she decides to give it a miss. Samir offers her a lift to Goa in his car. They are attracted to each other and Samir suggests she move in with him. She does and the differences between them become obvious and she moves out before he replaces her.
The story is simple, well written and the characters are very life like. The author seems to know the Mumbai, Goa and the route very well because she has actually described it in detail making it easy to visualize. I loved Melissa more because even though she wore her heart on her sleeve, she still was practical enough to hear what her head was telling her to do.
Another Shoma Narayanan Masterpiece.
