The Prophecy of Trivine has been written by three authors, Pulkit Gupta, Srivatsan Sridharan and Tnahsin Garg is a book belonging to the sci-fi genre. It is the story of three different people who meet and become friends: Phil, a hacker; Siv, a scientist and Arty, and artist. I would like to thank Nimmi Vashi of Readers Cosmos for sending me an autographed copy of the book
An emissary of an advanced alien race travels to the Earth to undertake responsibility of an experiment that has gone out of control. The outcome of this fateful experiment, which was conceived millions of years ago by her species, now rests in her hands. As she prepares to deliver her final judgment, she comes across three young men in a sacred forest who change her life forever.
These three men- a scientist, a hacker and an artist, happen to take refuge in that forest, trying to escape from the oddities of their own unfair lives. Struggling with their dreams and demons, they begin to explore the dark and paranormal behavior of the forest by forging a companionship. From the rare flora and fauna breathing alive on the ground to the deadly wide expanse of the whimsy black sky, everything they find is yet another puzzle unsolved.
Little did they know that four of them hold in their hands the future of mankind and much beyond imagination, they are connected through an ancient Prophecy that was long lost in the sands of time.
Phil, Philip Mascarenhas, a student of the City College of Engineering, known as Red Dragon to hi friends both online and offline.
Siv, Sivananda Chandrashekhara Ishwar Venkatamurthy is a PhD and has come to a forest for research.
Arty is an artist who loves nature.
Xona, a Gucutep Council member, is sent to earth by the council with a mission to save purpose.
The book starts with a prologue which mentions about a Gucutep creating something on the floor of the ocean. And then the story begins….
It is midnight when Phil is watching a movie on the computer in his hostel room, his friend comes and tells him that there is a team from the Cyber-crime division and a police squad in the Director’s office looking for him. He puts everything in a self-destruct mode and runs away from the campus. The police chase him and he ends up in a clearing in the forest where he sees a shack. The shack is like a laboratory with chemicals and it belongs to Siv, who is out in search of a flower whose drawings were accidentally lying in the shack. And Siv meets Arty, the artist, the one who did the drawings and his drawings are missing. And the three of them start staying in the shack when they meet Agni, who also starts staying with them.
Who is Agni? Why is she here? What is Xona’s mission? These are some mysteries and there are many more in this book.
I actually looked up the word ‘Gucutep’ to see what it actually is and realized that this alien race is actually a product of the authors’ imagination. The language is simple and the characters have been developed well. Once the characters come in conta
ct with each other, the story becomes a fast paced thriller. The book being written by three authors has been well written except at some places where it was a little difficult for me to find the flow of the book. The scenes in the jungle have been well described and can be imagined. My favourite was the part when the three of them are stuck inside a cave and do not leave each other because they know that only one can survive and they decide to brave it together. The story also shows the compassionate side of the aliens, which are very similar to humans. I found the prologue a little confusing.
Overall, a nice book. I am sure Sci-fi lovers would love it. A sequel would be more than welcome.
